About Us
Hi, my name is Sue. I live in New Galloway with my husband John.
Just after moving to New Galloway, with our beloved dog Roxy, we decided that we wanted to adopt a second dog. On visiting a rehoming centre, we noticed that there were many elderly dogs or dogs with medical conditions that were being overlooked. After many discussions and in depth planning, we opened our homes to dogs that were terminally ill or elderly. We wanted to give every dog a caring, loving home where they could relax and be warm and comfortable in the short time they had left. Once they have settled in, even though they are coming to the end of their life, you can see a happy, relieved and contented look appearing on their faces. They start to realise that this is a warm, comfortable and loving home to see out their days. This is, and continues to be, very emotional but rewarding work for us both.

How Glenkens started:
At Glenkens Dog Grooming and Boarding I offer more than a place to stay, it’s a holiday for your beloved dog. Drawing from a lifetime of experience as a dog owner, my service is to provide the same love and attention that my own dogs receive. My home is situated in a secure 4 acres. There are 2 large secure gardens, 1 at front of the property and 1 at rear. Both gardens are covered by CCTV where your dog is free to roam, enjoy plenty of playtime and loads of cuddles. I have a large secure field adjoining the property, where we have supervised walks during the day. No matter the breed or size of your dog, I welcome all dogs with open arms and treat them as part of my family. My goal is to provide a truly enriching experience, where your dog feels loved, safe and cherished, just as they do at home. I believe that a well-cared for dog is a happy dog, and I am committed to ensuring your dog has the best possible time while they are staying with me.
